Earlier this year, Ford brought to the market a rugged version of the Ford Explorer called Timberline. For the year 2022, Ford is expanding its Timberline series with a full-sized SUV. The 2022 Ford Expedition Timberline is meant to rival the Chevy Suburban’s Z71 package as it contains a collection of off-road features upgrades best for those who are ready to veer off any time.
In the 2022 model, Ford continued to use the EcoBoost twin-turbocharged, 3.5L v-6 engine. While in the former models, including the STX, XLT, and XL, the engine produces 380 hp and five up over the models introduced in the current year with 470 lb-feet of torque. However, for the premium models like King Ranch, power goes up to 400 hp, and torque is elevated to 480 lb-feet.
The 2022 Ford Expedition Timberline now sees a 10.6-inch rise from the ground, upgrading the approach angle and departure angle to 28.5 and 23.7 degrees, respectively. The newly introduced Timberline posses a broader track that takes the same underbody cladding as in F-150 Raptor and a two-speed transfer. The off-road capability for the new version is brought by adding Goodyear Wangler’s 33-inch all-terrain tires, while F-150 Raptor inspires the underbody shield. Moreover, the Trail Turn Assist mechanism made an appearance in this model similar to the Ford Bronco.
You can conveniently spot the 2022 Ford Expedition Timberline by just looking at its front, which possesses a mesh grille along with a LED headlights accompanied by an orange-colored strip that moves along the nose and two hooks for a tow.
Under the giant hood of the new 2022 Ford Expedition Timberline, you will find the same twin-turbo 3.5L Eco Boose V-6 engine as a standard truck, producing 440 hp and 510 lb-feet of torque. The vehicle provides power via a two-speed transfer case – low range for climbing elevated positions and or to move down the rough patches of roads.
The 2022 Ford Expedition Timberline prices have yet to be released and will be available for sale in the first quarter of the year 2023.
